The SWE-RMS 2017 Survey results are in - a big thanks to the 71 respondents! We have read all your comments and appreciate the honest feedback. So what did you have to say?
- RMS wants to have networking/social, professional development (PD) and tech talk events.
- You primarily joined SWE to build your professional network. A lot of people also want to encourage the next generation (can you say GESTEM or Girls Lead the Way?)
- The group is overall neutral regarding attendance if kids are allowed. (Fairly even bell curve distribution from strongly agree to strongly disagree).
- The majority of you attend events to meet other women engineers socially. Some of you also want to build relationships beyond casual social meetings and want to hear what’s happening at the society level.
- By and far the number one reason you can’t attend is because events are not in the right location or at the right time for you! There is a great solution for that - help plan a social in your area. You may be surprised where our 400+ strong membership is spread. (Seriously, email one of the social chairs to help you plan a social - it’s easy!)
- Most of you are planning to renew your membership! If you want to know more about the benefits of membership reach out to Heather Munoz, our VP of membership. A lot of companies will cover at least one professional membership for their employees. (Thanks to the life members for your support!)
- EVERYONE agrees - email is the best way to stay up to date (Thanks, Jilu!). For those of you who like Facebook, we’ll keep posting reminders there too.
- For most, early evening for weeknight socials and morning weekend socials are best. But the results varied - if you’re one of the folks who said times of the week don’t work for you, how about volunteering to help organize a lunch social near you?
- 35% of you live/work in Boulder. 20% live/25% work in Denver. 10% live/work in Fort Collins. 35% live/25% work in South Denver. But for those of you who didn’t fall into those four buckets you range from Loveland, Lakewood, Lone Tree, to Cheyenne.
If you have any questions about the results, please contact Heather Munoz.
